Can AVA be used with other brands?

Yes, probably!

AVA and Kärcher have a similar bayonet connection on accessories, so nozzles and other accessories from AVA are compatible with most of Kärcher's accessories.

The hose connection used by AVA is a standard connection that is used by most other brands, allowing a patio cleaner from Nilfisk or Bosch to be used by attaching the corresponding gun as an adapter directly to the AVA hose.

This can also be done the other way around, so that you can attach an AVA gun to, for example, a Bosch machine, and get the AVA advantages on the machine you already have from another brand. We also have an adapter if you want to use the AVA gun on a Kärcher machine.

Additional information for those who want it:

Compatibility with Kärcher

AVA comes with a quick coupling quite similar to Kärcher's well-known coupling, which has been used on consumer models for over 20 years. The goal with the quick coupling AVA has created was that it should be the market's easiest to use and feel more steady than other solutions. Additionally, we have created a locking ring that can (but doesn't have to) be used. When tightened, the accessory will sit even more firmly, something we believe provides a good experience for the user. Remember, the locking ring should only be screwed until tight, not tightened.

Our quick coupling thus fits interchangeably with Kärcher's coupling, which means you can go "both ways" and use Kärcher on AVA and AVA on Kärcher when it comes to accessories that are inserted into the gun or lance.

As for the hose connection, it is different between AVA and Kärcher. Therefore, we offer an adapter that allows Kärcher's newest hose connection (used on machines newer than 2009). With this adapter, you can attach an AVA gun to a Kärcher machine, and get something close to the perfect AVA experience. The hoses are not compatible between these brands, so a Kärcher hose will not be usable on AVA or vice versa.

Kärcher's coupling and adapter are shown in the pictures below.

Finally, all high-pressure equipment depends on the nozzles being adapted to the pump, which means that a brush without a proper high-pressure nozzle can be used on all models, while all accessories that provide high pressure must be adapted to the specific pump size. This can be checked with the wattage. Machines with similar wattage, plus/minus 200 watts, can use the same equipment.

Be aware that the consequence of the wrong nozzle will be one of the following: perfect pressure; or a perceived reduced pressure. In these cases, "it is safe to use the accessory" but if the nozzle opening is not suitable for the machine, the machine will "chase," meaning it turns on and off frequently. If you experience this, the accessory should not be used as it can damage the pump.

Compatibility with other brands

AVA likes reuse; We want someone who has to replace their high-pressure washer to be able to continue using the accessory that still works. If you have, for example, a patio cleaner from a previous machine, we have made it possible for as many as possible to continue using this. There are a variety of different connections on the market, and new ones keep coming. What is somewhat close to a standard, however, is the connection on the hose towards the gun. Here Kärcher uses a proprietary type, while most others use the same standard connection. If you have such a connection, you can attach your old Nilfisk or Bosch gun to the AVA hose, and continue using the patio cleaner. This also applies the other way around, so that a defective gun or accessory can be upgraded to AVA accessory, which then fits your old machine.

The connection looks like this, here you can check the measurements if you are unsure whether you have the right connection:

So if you have a Nilfisk, Bosch, Makita, Black & Decker, or another brand, an AVA gun will most likely fit on the hose and vice versa. We do not have a complete list of compatible brands as some brands vary a bit between which connection they use and of known brands in Norway we can say that FOMA has not used this connection and is therefore not compatible.

If you need new accessories for a machine that is not an AVA, you can buy an AVA Start Kit consisting of a hose, gun, Zoomlance, and nozzle.
